Welcome!

HEY THERE!
I am Ms. Cabrera, one of the social studies teachers in the SMART SLC. I have been teaching at Manual Arts HS for the past 6 years, in which I have taught various social studies classes, including American Government, Economics, Ethnic Studies, and Law & Youth. For the 2023-2024 school year, I will teach 10th-grade World History (for our international students), 11th-grade United States History, and homeroom advisory.

I am excited to continue teaching and learning with my students this year. I believe that social studies is an essential subject that helps us understand the world around us. I am committed to creating a classroom where all students feel safe, respected, and challenged.

BRIEF BIO:
I was born and raised in Los Angeles, California, in the Westlake-MacArthur Park area to two immigrant parents from Mexico. I'm a cat mom to Ritchie, formerly known as "Mr. Ritchie" during our distance learning days. I am also a proud product of LAUSD. I attended Union Avenue Elementary and Gratts Elementary School, Virgil Middle School, and graduated from Belmont High School in 2007.
