About MAHS Library

Hello Everyone! I am very excited to be at Manual Arts and serve you as your school’s teacher librarian. I have been a teacher librarian for four years now and I have been teaching in LAUSD for close to sixteen years. I have a background in Ethnic Studies and have mostly taught English. I love reading, film, and appreciating the arts in multiple formats. One of my favorite books is Tortuga by Rodolfo Anaya. His stories are beautiful and involve healing narratives and uplift indigenous people in his home state, where I also have family roots, New Mexico.

I love our school and library. There is something here for everyone. We are working on making changes in the library, aspiring towards an upgrade, and adding additional, new material for all to access. The library is a safe and welcoming space where students and the greater community can find a quiet place to read, space to collaborate on projects, computers and a printer to do research, and more, and many, many books to check out. If you have suggestions on programming or ideas for the library, please feel free to share them.

The library hosts the MAHS Book Club Tuesdays during lunch. We read a different book that students vote on every 5-6 weeks and have been on two field trips this semester. Last semester students hosted the Book Truck for a free book giveaway event after school.

Library is located on the 2nd floor of the main building in 237.
Direct Phone: (323) 846-7370 from school dial 67370.
