LAUSD Title I Parent and Family Engagement Policy

The LAUSD Title I Parent and Family Engagement Policy is a summary of how the district will involve parents in the joint development of LAUSD's Local Education Agency (LEA) Plan, involve parents in activities to improve student achievement, and use strategies to effectively engage parents and families. It was distributed to families on December 1, 2023 in English and Spanish. Copies are available in room 118 and it can also be found in the "Parents" section of the school's website. La Política Título I del LAUSD para la Involucración de los Padres y las Familias es un resumen de cómo el distrito involucrará a los padres en el desarrollo conjunto del Plan de la Agencia de Educación Local (LEA) del LAUSD, involucrará a los padres en actividades para mejorar el rendimiento de los estudiantes y utilizará estrategias para involucrar a los padres y las familias de manera efectiva. Se distribuyó a las familias el 1 de deciembre de 2023 en inglés y español. Manual Arts High School Title I Parent and Family Engagement Policy and School-Parent Compact

Manual Arts High School has developed a written Title I Parent and Family Engagement Policy and School-Parent compact with input from Title I parents and agreed upon by Title I parents. Title I parents and the English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC) provided input into the school’s Title I Parent and Family Engagement Policy and School-Parent Compact. The School Site Council (SSC) reviewed and incorporated their input in addition to the input provided by the Title I parents and the ELAC. Manual Arts High School’s Title I Parent and Family Engagement Policy was approved, posted on the school’s website, and distributed to all Title I families, on December 1, 2023 in English and Spanish. Copies are also available in room 118.

 

Manual Arts High School ha desarrollado una Política de participación de padres y familias de Título I por escrito y un pacto entre la escuela y los padres con aportes de los padres de Título I y acordado por los padres de Título I. Los padres del Título I y el Comité Asesor de Aprendices de Inglés (ELAC, por sus siglas en inglés) proporcionaron información sobre la Política de participación de los padres y la familia del Título I de la escuela y el Acuerdo entre la escuela y los padres. El Consejo del Sitio Escolar (SSC) revisó e incorporó sus aportes además de los aportes proporcionados por los padres del Título I y el ELAC. La Política de Participación de Padres y Familias de Título I de Manual Arts High School fue aprobada, publicada en el sitio web de la escuela y distribuida a todas las familias de Título I, el 1 de deciembre de 2023 en inglés y español. Dear Parents/Guardians:
 
When you are involved, your child achieves more!  Research shows that regardless of the economic, ethnic, or cultural background of the family, when parents/guardians are involved in their children's education, students have:
  • Higher grades, test scores, and graduation rates
  • Better school attendance
  • Increased motivation
  • Better self-esteem
  • Lower rates of suspension
  • Decreased use of drugs and alcohol
  • Fewer instances of violent behavior
  • Greater enrollment rates in post-secondary education
Here are several things that you can do to monitor your son/daughter's progress:
  • Expect your son/daughter to have homework.
  • Check your son/daughter's attendance, class progress, and graduation requirements on LAUSD Parent Portal.
  • Participate in Back-to-School, Open House Parent Nights.
  • Stay in contact with your son/daughter's teachers and counselor.
  • Check for the next progress report.
